The International Lao Village Project
Neil is from New Zealand and has been living in Vang Vieng for 5 years.
I have a beautiful block of land Situated 6 Kms north of Vang Vieng on the other side of the Nam Song. With the help of various travellers we have planted a large variety of fruit trees and built a number of bamboo huts including a longhouse capable of sleeping around 20 people.
Every dry season (from October to May) I invite travellers to join me in enjoying a simple Lao village lifestyle. There is no electricity, cooking is on wood fires, we wash in the river and defecate in a hole in the ground. All the food (mainly vegetarian) is provided as well as bedding , mossie nets, candles and cooking utensils.
All you need to bring is some clothes (if you choose to wear clothes), a torch, mossie repellant and a self reliant attitude.
If you want to be busy you can help with cooking, making vegie gardens, collecting firewood, building with bamboo, fixing the fences etc; if you want to relax there are lots of hammocks available..its entirely up to you.
Price: 50,000 kip per person per night including food.
If you think this could appeal to you for a few days come and talk to Neil at Pan's Place Guesthouse on the south end of the main street, phone 023 511484.
